Abstinence

This is the most effective way (100%) to prevent pregnancy and infection. Abstinence is when there is no sexual contact whatsoever.

You may choose to abstain from sex for various reasons, such as:

• Waiting until you feel ready for a sexual relationship
• Waiting to find the right partner
• Focusing on school, job or other activities
• Following your moral, personal or religious beliefs
• Getting over a breakup
• Healing from the death of a partner
• Sickness or to follow your doctor’s advice
